Alpha Devlog 11: Cowtools and Music

I know some of you are tired of the exact same combat song (and map songs) playing since Ero Witches. So I've used (part of) the Patreon money to get a composer for the game.  His name is Horbror and he's making the game Dreams of Joy Departed, which you should check out. I like his particular style of music, and had spoken to him before, so it was an easy decision to commission him for some tracks. Currently there's only a combat and a map track for the newest Lab area, but the other ones will follow soon.

The tracks still need some mastering, but after that, I'll also put the wav-files on Patreon (for all tiers).

Subscribestar

Next to the Patreon, I now also have a Subscribestar. It mostly serves as a backup in case Patreon decides to change its terms of service one day. However, I still would like to get a more diversified income stream, so there's a 35% discount over there. So you get the benefits of the Noble tier (without being able to vote in polls), at the price of the Warrior tier. 

Creating a Cow

I present to you, a cow:


The idea behind the cursed classes is that they are powerful in the right circumstances, but have some major drawbacks as well. The prisoner, for example, is an amazing tank and can taunt and buff very well, unfortunately she can barely attack. The maid gives a lot of strategic support by increasing max morale, she can also clean debuffs from partymembers or buffs from enemies. However, unless she's set up well she's better of staying in the guild, cleaning the barracks.

So for the cow, the idea was to have a class that relies on cowness. We know that cowgirls are dumb, have big boobs, give milk, and have big boobs. So the idea of the class is to make some moves conditional on these aspects. For example, multiple moves require her to have large boobs, while others require her INT and WIS to be sufficiently low. Then other moves require her to have milk tokens, which are built up over time. The cursed equipment facilitates this, by mostly increasing boob size.


With that in mind, making the moves and equipment is very easy. Especially so since a lot was already in the game. You'll see that the more recent classes are a lot more complicated than the older ones, which is for that reason. As time goes on, I have more tools to work with, so classes get more complex.

Content

  • New lab dungeon type (but no specific enemies for it yet), including new combat background.
  • Music for the new lab dungeon and lab dungeon combat.

  • The 'list' command now lists stuff alphabetically and also lists provisions and goals. 
  • Added a command to set a specific development goal to a player.

  • Demonic canines are more common nowadays.
  • You can now have a larger roster.
  • Full level cursed classes now confer immunity to the class changing effect of their equipment. 
  • So if you are a fully leveled prisoner, you can wear prisoner equipment as any other class without getting turned back into a prisoner.
  • Reworked the layout and colouring of the class panel in the guild.
  • Reworked the suggestibility tooltips.
  • Changed the level curve a tad.

Bugfixes

  • Defeat enemies, get tokens, and take damage goals would only trigger for actions happening as a cause of a move (so no dots or crests).
  • Speed tokens now trigger at round start instead of at turn start, which means they aren't useless.
  • If you loaded a save where an adventurer was grappled, the game could crash.
  • If an item is broken, it would permanently disable its effect until reloading, even after restoring its durability.
  • Kleptomaniac interacted incorrectly with the loot chests.
  • Bug where interaction with the wooden chest would trigger multiple times when playing by mouse. 
  • You can now interact with that chest even if you stand directly next to it. 
  • Alternative quirks didn't work for script conditionals (e.g. gag of temperance didn't trigger silent support)
  • Some fixes in the tutorials.
  • Only the effect of the last level of a class applied. 
  • After swapping, the permanent bonus of a class would apply twice. 
  • Equipment of kidnapped girls would disappear.
  • The levelup command didn't work outside of dungeons.
  • If you select a quirk for locking / removal and switch to the other one, the quirk seems to stay selected but gives an error once you confirm the process.
  • If you started a dungeon without a girl in the first position, you couldn't lose combats.
  • Chance based timed effects (such as parasites) weren't shown in the pop overview.

could you add a fullscreen button in the combat screen? it lags on my pc long enough for chrome to think its not responding when i enter combat, so it keeps kicking me out of fullscreen.

I've been having problems getting enemies to equip cursed gear onto my characters when I actually want them to. I know it was cut back a bit ago because it was too frequent, but I think it was cut back maybe a little TOO much because now they rarely do it (at least in the cave dungeon).

Edit: okay, I think I've figured out why. they don't do it very much if the person you're trying to get them to equip it to is already of the maid class; currently in the process of testing this new theory.

Edit 2: yep. its definitely because they were maid classes. even if they don't have all the maid gear on, it would seem that simply being of the maid class reduces the chances of monsters equipping any more maid gear onto the characters.

could i get an  eta on the skip feature, also none of m devices except my chromebook (browser only, which takes forever to load and has alot of lag) my only other device is a windows 7 and crashes the very second i try to load the game.

I saw a comment that you replied to. in ero witches you could skip dungeons, you said that it would be added eventually. the comment is on the games main page

it was added but recently removed for reasons.
